Interpretive Design: WildScapes

During construction in the Canadian Wilds, the zoo needed a solution to maintain visitor engagement. The Brand and Engagement team proposed WildScapes, a new attraction designed to educate visitors about endangered species and conservation, ensuring continued interest during the closure.

The project involved conceptualizing, developing, and executing the full interpretive design for WildScapes. As Lead Designer, the focus was on creating an immersive on-park experience through cohesive wayfinding and storytelling elements. The signage was designed to seamlessly integrate with the exhibit, using organic shapes and natural forms inspired by plant life. Clear, effective information design ensured a playful, engaging, and educational experience that highlighted individual species stories and conservation messages.

Additionally, the role included designing the event for the public launch of WildScapes, a special occasion called the ‘Mad Hatter Garden Party.’ The design mirrored the event experience, guiding attendees through an archway into the Gardens, where the event was held. To evoke the essence of Alice in Wonderland, a themed vector illustration was incorporated into a hedge, symbolizing the transition from one reality to another and enhancing the immersive atmosphere of the event.
